Introducing the most natural way to destress
With no doctors and medicines
In my friend’s circle, I’m always the happy-go-lucky girl. Always the most optimistic. Smile the widest. Laugh the loudest.
That’s why if I started to get emo, for instance, posting a black and white photo of myself in Instagram and putting a caption “Really doubting my decision-taking skill these days. Am I hurting people? Am I getting too overboard?”…
People around me would start to get worried.
But often I just wanted time for myself to process my messy thoughts and reflect my sometimes-stupid actions.
And this is where I go and destress myself without needing anyone or/and eating supplements/meds.
Most Natural Way to Destress
Recently, I come across an anonymous post and see someone saying that swimming is the most ultimate “natural” anti-depressant.
And the effect of swimming to the OP, as verbatim, is unreal and magical for him.
And I couldn’t agree more.
Because that’s exactly how I do it as well.
Every single time when I get stressed, things didn’t go my way, or how suck-y the day can be… I would just go for an hour of swimming, and it’s as if I’ve taken some “power-boosting” meds. No joke.
You could have so many noises in your mind, and then go to swim for awhile, and then you will leave the pool with peace and relaxation throughout your mind, soul and body for the rest of the day.
Because you know what…
Fun fact: When you’re swimming, you are almost moving naked.
You are strapped down to just you and your swimming suits.
You feel cool, not hot and sweaty.
You hear nothing, except the sound of your own heartbeat.
You feel the water resistance, yet you could still move smoothly through it with your body.
It’s like someone or something giving you the biggest hug without pressure.
It’s like meditation, but way easier to do because you just need to focus on breathing and moving.
And you could feel the same way if you’ve mastered swimming independently.
Because like everything else in life…
The first step is always the hardest one, and same applies to swimming.
Because here’s something we need to understand:
Even though we normally classify swimming as ‘SPORTS’, (or in this case, a natural way to destress) but in truth, it’s more than that.
Swimming is also a lifetime survival skill.
It's about your life and death in water.
So, don’t you go to the swimming pool by yourself to destress and think that you will feel relieved and relaxed in the water without any supervision… because that can be dangerous even if it’s shallow water. (read our last week’s topic: Can people drown in water they can stand in?)
Because in our Optimum Train Swim School, we advocate the water ability to:
💦 Swim in 25 meter long swimming pool without stopping
💦 Survive by yourself in the water even when you couldn't touch the ground of the swimming pool
💦 Sustain yourself by having enough stamina to complete laps after laps without feeling tired
… only then you can do what I’m trying to say here: release stress through swimming.
Honestly, go try it yourself for anyone who’s already mastered swimming. You would thank me later for that.
It’s like flying naked through space and your brain will feel SO different afterwards.
It’s THAT magical.
And it makes me sometimes wish I could live forever in the water.
