Our students call us "Evil Teacher"

Our teaching methods might seem evil, but they will thank us later.

“Teacher, please don’t say 6 laps.” one student in the teenager class grunts.

“Yeah, every time 6 laps for warm ups. How about 4 laps this time?” another chimes in.

“Sounds good, right? Everyone agrees?”

Others nod their heads furiously and talk over each other about how reasonable and sensible the suggestion is.

I look at them one by one and they return me with the most earnest and “puppy-face” look I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

“Well…” I looked at the 25m length pool. “Since you guys insist that you want something different this time, and 6 laps are boring…

Then let’s turn things up: 10 laps kicking for warmup. Let’s go!”

“WHAT?!” everyone starts to moan and whine. “WHYYYYYYYYYYY”

"I will count from 10. If whoever doesn’t go kicking yet, I will add 4 more. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6…”

As I count down, the students unreluctantly take their boards and off they kickstart (pun totally intended) their swimming classes.

Seems evil?

You might think so at first, but here’s the thing:

One of the FOUR swimming rules in Optimum Train Swim School is this:

Water Confidence:
💧 Have enough stamina to complete laps after laps without feeling tired or stopping halfway

And this is one of the proudest thing we’ve advocated since 2009 until nowadays.

Because we don’t only teach you how to swim freestyles, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly…

We will also teach you how to survive if you were to put in a sea of water.

Swimming:

Learn once. Own Forever.

Because here’s something we need to understand:

Even though we normally classify swimming as ‘SPORTS’, but in truth, it’s more than that.

Swimming is a life-and-death water survival skill.

In Optimum Train Swim School, we don't just teach swimming...

We make sure every single student has the correct stroke so that they can swim longer and further.

That's why we NEVER promise how fast you can learn to swim.

We only PROMISE the students that after the end of our lessons, you can always swim long and steady without getting tired so fast.

No worries:

We don’t apply the same “evil” teaching method to everyone (especially if you’re an adult)

But we DO believe our teaching methods for swimming is going to help you save yourself whenever and wherever you are.

As long as you’re 3 years old and above, we teach everyone as long as you’re aware that our teaching methods are created for the benefits of one’s life, not one’s mood swing, like the example my beloved young students show.
